NCC / NSS

Introduction

National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in 1969, the Gandhi Centenary year, with the aim of developing students’ personality through community service. The overall objective of NSS is Education, which is achieved through service to the community.

NSS is a permanent youth programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and is funded by the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh in the ratio of 5:7.

The NSS Unit of Career College of Law was started in the academic year 1997–1998 and the NSS Committee was constituted in 1998–1999. Over the years, student participation has increased significantly and more than 20 programmes have been successfully organized till date.

Objectives

• To understand the community in which students work.
• To identify community needs and problems and participate in solving them.
• To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
• To apply knowledge for practical solutions to individual and community problems.
• To develop skills for group living and sharing responsibilities.
• To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
• To develop capacity to respond to emergencies and natural disasters.
• To promote national integration and social harmony.

Activities

150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (2019)

In the year 2019, the Government of India commemorated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at national and international levels. On this occasion, Career College, along with the NSS Unit, organized various programmes such as essay writing and creative writing competitions.

More than 70 students from various streams participated enthusiastically. The event aimed to reinforce Gandhiji’s teachings of non-violence and his contribution to India’s freedom struggle. Winners were awarded by the Principal and Director Academics.

To build youth with the mind and spirit to serve society and work for the social upliftment of the under-privileged sections of the nation.

Mission

The National Service Scheme functions with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU”, aiming to inspire youth to serve people by promoting education through community service and community service through education.
