Introduction

National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in 1969 (Gandhi Centenary year) and aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. The overall objective of National Service Scheme is Education. This objective is attained through the service of the community.

NSS is a permanent youth program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and funded by Government of Madhya Pradesh and Government of India in the ratio 5:7.

The NSS Unit of Career College of Law was started in, 1997-1998 and NSS Committee was constituted on 1998-1999. When the college started the NSS Unit, very few students showed interest in it. However, with the passage of time, the Unit landed up having a handsome number of students who have registered as NSS volunteers. In line with this, a lot of programmes have been organized by the NSS Unit through various Departments in the college and yearly reports have been submitted

The NSS Committee is headed by Mr. Praveen K Thakre who is also the Programme coordinator of the Unit in the College. As the college is involved enormously in community programmes and in reaching out to the rural interiors a large number of students are joining it as volunteers. Students who wish to join as an NSS volunteer in the Unit are asked to fill a form which is kept as an official record and his her documents are handed to the University. Till date, the NSS Unit was able to organize more than 20 programmes.

The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.

Mission

The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired to serve of the people and hence NSS aims at Education through Community Service and Community Service through Education

Objectives

The Overall Objective Of Nss Is Personality Development Through Community Service. The Broad Objectives Of Nss Are:

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Practice national integration and social harmony 

    Activities

    150th Birth Anniversary Of Mahatma Gandhi

    Year 2019 Government of India has decided to commemorate the 150th Birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi “Father of the Nation” at National and International level to propagate his message. Further the instructions were given by the Higher Education to celebrate the occasion in colleges and universities. On the occasion of “Gandhi Jayanti”, Career College, Linguistics Department along with NSS unit also conducted various programs such as Essay writing and Creative writing competitions. More than 70 students from various streams participated in the event with great enthusiasm. Purpose of this event was to reinforce the teachings of Bapu. Awards were given to the winners by Principal Dr. Punam Gupta and Director, Academics Dr. P.N. Tiwari. The event was conducted to reinforce the non-violent ways of life and remind Gandhiji’s efforts in the Indian Independence movement.
